You were on my mind last week. I was going through my emails and found our very first email exchange from back in 2014. You had asked if we could be tandem partners so that you could work on your English while I practiced my German with you.

You were essentially the first Austrian I had met who went out of their way to stick around after class and meet me because you knew I was new and a little nervous about my courses. You were friendly, outgoing, and made me feel welcome in Innsbruck. You introduced me to your friends, brought me a tasty slice of Tyrolean cake that you and your mom made, and showed me and told me about cool parts of the city. In exchange I gave you helpful English tips (you did love putting two similar adjectives one after the other, unable to choose which one
